Before you write

Answers to the usual five.

Is MainQuest really free?
Yes, and with no time limit. Habits, diary and calendar are free forever, no card. Alfred, the AI that reads all of it, is the paid part.
What happens to my diary if I stop paying?
Nothing. Your entries stay yours and stay readable. You lose Alfred, not your writing.
Can I cancel any time?
Any time, from your account. The plan runs to the end of the period you already paid for and then stops. There is nothing to email us about.
Is my data used to train anything?
No. Your diary and calendar are read by Alfred to answer you, and for nothing else.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use Row Level Security in our database: every row of your diary, calendar and habits belongs to your account, and the database itself only lets you read it. Other users can't open it, and everything travels over an encrypted connection. You can also delete your account and all of its data from Settings at any time.
Does Alfred send my diary to an AI company?
Yes, the prompt is shared with Anthropic, the company that makes Claude. Alfred has to read your diary and calendar to give you answers that fit your life, so when you ask him something, the relevant parts are sent along to write the reply. Before that happens, the names of people, places and companies are replaced with placeholders, so Anthropic sees PERSON_1, PLACE_1 or ORG_1 instead of the real name, and the reply is swapped back for you. Anthropic doesn't use it to train its models. You can withdraw Alfred's permission in Settings at any time, and he stops sending anything.
Why do my chats with Alfred disappear?
On purpose. A conversation stays open for two hours after you finish, long enough to think it through and leave with a plan, and then it is deleted from your device. Alfred is built to get you moving, not to keep you talking late into the night. What matters isn't lost: Alfred's memory keeps your breakthroughs and the things that helped, so he can remind you of them next time.
What do you do to protect the people I write about?
Before anything is sent to Anthropic, the names of people, specific places (addresses, venues, event locations, where you live) and organisations (employers, schools, companies) in your messages, diary and calendar are swapped for placeholders like PERSON_1, PLACE_1 and ORG_1. City and country names stay, so Alfred can still help with travel. Alfred's reply is swapped back, so it reads normally to you. The placeholders are made for each message and never stored, so there is no list of names on our side.
Does that make everything anonymous?
No, and we'd rather say so plainly. The placeholders catch most names, places and organisations written the way people write them, like "with Zofia", "Café Odeon" or "I work at Novartis". They can miss some names, nicknames, unusual spellings, or descriptions like "my sister who runs the bakery", and what you write about someone can still be personal even without their name. We keep improving the detection. If you notice a name that got through, tell us and we'll fix it.
Will Alfred always notice when I'm stressed?
No. Alfred reads your heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep, calendar and diary to notice patterns, and some of those signals are missed or misread: a stressful afternoon with a calm heart rate, or a racing one from coffee or a walk. He suggests, he doesn't diagnose, and he is not a doctor. Treat what he raises as a prompt to look, not a verdict. When he's wrong, tap "Not quite" so he learns from it, and we keep working on making him more reliable.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete your account and all of its data from Settings at any time, and it's gone.
When is the iPhone app out?
It is coming to the App Store. A web plan carries over to it on the day it ships, at no extra cost.
