MainQuest is a personal productivity and reflection app with habit tracking, a diary, a calendar, goals, sleep coaching, and an AI assistant called Alfred. It is available on the web (mainquest.center, mainquest.page) and as an iOS app (together, the "Service").
MainQuest is operated by Shivam Banerjee, a sole proprietor in Switzerland ("MainQuest," "we," "us," "our"). He is the controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy, under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for people in the European Economic Area, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This policy covers the website, the web app, the iOS app, and any other service that links to it.
Email address and password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider, never in plain text), first and last name, and optionally your birth year. If you sign in with Apple or Google where offered, we receive the name and email address that provider shares.
Diary entries (title, text, date, category, and mood) and your diary categories; habits and their daily completion history; calendars and events (title, time, description); to-do lists; goals and their progress; answers to weekly check-ins; your daily energy level; and app preferences such as theme and what Alfred calls you.
Alfred has its own memory, built and stored by MainQuest in our database (not by Anthropic), so it can learn from past experiences with you. It keeps a record of problems you worked through together, the options you considered, and what helped. It can also keep notes about people, places, and topics that matter to you: the name and type of each one, short summaries and quotes, how important and how emotionally charged they seem, and any corrections you make. Summaries, quotes, and corrections are encrypted in our database. The names of people and topics are not.
Only if you turn these features on. See Section 5 for details.
If you dictate a diary entry or a message to Alfred, on the web or in the iOS app, the audio is sent to our transcription provider to be turned into text and is not kept by MainQuest or stored with your account. We record only how many seconds were transcribed, to apply plan limits.
If you choose to import from your iPhone's calendars, MainQuest reads the calendars and events you give it access to, and saves the events you import to your MainQuest calendar. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings.
A device identifier, used to keep voice dictation on one device at a time and to help prevent abuse. Every plan, Free included, works on as many devices as you like. A log of when you message Alfred and which AI model answered (not what was said), used for daily limits. Your IP address, which is used briefly to prevent abuse and appears in our hosting provider's standard server logs.
Your plan, trial dates, whether you subscribe on the web or through Apple, and a reference ID (Stripe customer ID or Apple transaction ID). Card details go directly to Stripe or Apple. We never receive them.
If you contact support, we receive your email address, subject, and message.
The web and iOS apps keep a local copy of your data on your device so they load quickly and work offline. Deleting the app removes the iOS copy; clearing site data in your browser removes the web copy.
We count visits to mainquest.page ourselves, without cookies or third-party tools: the page viewed, the website that linked to it (just its name, such as google.com), the country your connection comes from, and whether it is a phone or a computer. We do not store your IP address. To count you once a day, we keep a code made from your connection and browser that changes every day, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next. If your browser sends Do Not Track, nothing is counted.
The iOS app asks before it uses any of these, and works without them. You can change each one at any time in iOS Settings, then MainQuest.
Location, contacts, photos, camera, or advertising identifiers. MainQuest contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Alfred only works after you agree to this. Before Alfred's first reply, the app explains what is shared and asks for your permission, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings, after which Alfred stops sending anything to Anthropic.
Alfred is MainQuest's own assistant: its personality, memory, and planning tools are designed and built by MainQuest, and it runs on Claude, a language model made by Anthropic, through Anthropic's API. Each time you message Alfred, we send Anthropic your message and the recent conversation, together with context so Alfred can give a relevant answer: your upcoming calendar, habit progress, recent diary entries, and (on paid plans) the relevant parts of Alfred's memory, decrypted only for that request. On the web, if you ask Alfred to look at a specific period of your diary, it asks for your permission before sending those entries.
Before a request leaves our servers, the names of people, specific places and organisations in what you wrote, your diary and your calendar are replaced with placeholders such as PERSON_1, PLACE_1 and ORG_1, and Alfred's reply is changed back before you see it. Places means addresses, named venues such as a café or hotel, event locations and where you live; organisations means employers, schools and companies named as such. Names of cities and countries are kept, because Alfred needs them to help with travel and plans. The placeholders are made for each request and are not stored. Detection is pattern-based: it catches most of these written in the usual ways, but not all of them, and what you write about someone can be personal even without their name. This applies to every request we send to Anthropic, from the web and the iPhone app alike, including when Alfred's memory is built or corrected. Voice notes are transcribed as audio (see Groq in Section 8) and are not covered by this replacement.
Alfred's memory stays in MainQuest's database. When you message Alfred, it looks up the past experiences and notes relevant to what you wrote and includes only those in the request, so its answer can build on them. Anthropic does not store a memory of you. On the web, if you tell Alfred it remembered something wrong, that note and your correction are sent to Anthropic to rewrite it.
Anthropic processes this data only to produce Alfred's responses. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, it is not used to train their models, and Anthropic may keep requests for a limited time only for safety and abuse monitoring. Your conversations with Alfred are not stored in our database. They are kept only on your device, and deleted there two hours after the conversation ends. Alfred makes suggestions only. It never makes decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
All of the following is optional and used only to power features inside MainQuest, such as sleep coaching, daily health scores, and automatically ticking off habits you have completed.
For connected services, we store the access tokens that let us fetch this data on your behalf, plus basic profile details such as your display name. From this data we save nightly sleep results, your sleep goal, and daily scores such as a health score and your own ratings.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared beyond the providers in Section 8. It is not stored in iCloud. You can revoke access at any time: for Apple Health, in iOS Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Health, then MainQuest; for other services, disconnect them in MainQuest's Settings or in that service's own settings.
MainQuest uses only what it needs to work. The web app stores your sign-in session and a local copy of your data in your browser's storage, and remembers settings such as your theme. These are necessary for the Service, so they don't need your consent. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, third-party trackers, or pixels in our emails, and we don't do interest-based advertising. Visits to mainquest.page are counted without cookies, as described in Section 3.
You can clear this storage at any time in your browser's settings; you will then be signed out. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. We don't track you across sites either way, and our visit counter skips browsers that send it.
We process personal data in line with the principles of the Swiss FADP: lawfully, in good faith, only as far as needed, for purposes you can recognise, and accurately. For people in the European Economic Area, the GDPR also requires a legal basis for each use. These are ours:
| Purpose | Data involved | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Providing the Service: your account, your content, sync across devices, plan limits | Account data, what you create in the app, device data | Performance of our contract with you |
| Alfred, MainQuest's AI assistant | Your messages and the context described in Section 4 | Your explicit consent, which you can withdraw in Settings |
| Health, sleep, and fitness features | The health data described in Section 5 | Your explicit consent, given when you turn a connection on |
| Subscriptions and billing | Plan, trial dates, payment references | Performance of our contract; legal obligations to keep records |
| Security and preventing abuse | IP address, device identifier, usage log | Our legitimate interest in keeping MainQuest safe and working |
| Answering support requests | Your email address and message | Our legitimate interest in helping you, or our contract with you |
| Counting visits to this website | The anonymous visit data in Section 3 | Our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used |
| Complying with the law and protecting rights | Whatever the situation requires | Legal obligations; our legitimate interest in defending legal claims |
Health data and the content of your diary can be sensitive personal data. We process it only with your explicit consent and only to provide the features you turned on. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before. MainQuest does not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
We share data only with the providers below, and only what each needs to do its job. They act on our behalf under contract.
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign-in (hosted in Frankfurt, Germany) | All account and app data |
| Anthropic | Powers Alfred | Your messages and the context described in Section 4 |
| Groq | Voice-to-text | Dictation audio, only while it is transcribed |
| Vercel | Hosts the website and app servers | Standard server logs, including IP address |
| Stripe | Web subscriptions | Email and subscription status |
| Apple | iOS subscriptions; Apple Health on your device | Subscription status |
| Google, WHOOP, Strava, Garmin | Health and fitness connections you choose to turn on | An authorization request from MainQuest; we receive the data listed in Section 5 |
| Resend | Sends support and account emails | Your email address and message |
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to a successor if MainQuest is sold or merged, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Requests from authorities. We disclose personal data to courts, police, or other authorities only when Swiss law, or a court order recognised in Switzerland, obliges us to. We check each request, disclose no more than it requires, and tell you about it unless the law forbids us to.
You can exercise these rights by emailing us. We may need to confirm it's really you before we act on a request, and we answer within 30 days. If we can't meet a request in full, we tell you why. These rights apply under the Swiss FADP, the GDPR and the UK GDPR, and we honor the equivalent rights under US state privacy laws, such as California's, wherever you live.
Supervisory authorities. In Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern, edoeb.admin.ch. In the European Economic Area, you can complain to the authority where you live or work; the list is at edpb.europa.eu.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
MainQuest is not intended for anyone under 16 (or under 13 in the United States), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
MainQuest is run from Switzerland and our database is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). Switzerland and the EU recognise each other as providing adequate protection. Some providers, including Anthropic, Groq, Vercel, Stripe, and Resend, process data in the United States. For these transfers we rely on the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Frameworks where the provider is certified, or otherwise on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and recognised by the FDPIC. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards that apply.
The Service links to, and lets you connect, services run by others, such as Apple Health, Google, WHOOP, Strava, and Garmin. We don't control them, and their own privacy policies apply to what they do with your data. We encourage you to read them.
When we update this policy, we change the date at the top. For significant changes, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Earlier versions are available on request.
